Somewhere, Something, Someone
An exploration of Boston-based Leers Weinzapfel Associates’ work since 2011

Somewhere, Something, Someone, is an exploration of Leers Weinzapfel Associates’ work since 2011. Somewhere, Something, Someone suggests three dimensions that jump-start the design process, but it is the simultaneous engagement of them all which is required to achieve our fundamental goal- an architecture which advances the public good. The book highlights the broad integrative thinking and simultaneity of considerations that inspire our body of diverse projects.  From large- scale infrastructure plants, to community centers and courthouses, to campus living and learning spaces, we give attention and precision to integrating the forces that shape design.

Throughout this book, long-time architect friends, teaching colleagues, and collaborators have offered their reflections on our work and the way we do it. The book includes essays by contributors including Marlon Blackwel, Alison Brooks, Jeanne Gang, Thom Mayne, Adele Santos, Hashim Sarkis, Peter MacKeith, David Tseng, as well as a conversation on mass timber construction with Alan Organschi, Peter MacKeith, Susan Jones, and Thomas Robinson.

“The firm’s work is a beacon for those of us who believe that architecture is not just about buildings, but about the people and the stories that give them life.”

—Thom Mayne, Somewhere, Something, Someone
